An unsaturated cyclic ketone with high boiling point. An isomers mixture of α-Isophorone (3,5,5-Trimethyl-2-Cyclohexen-1-One) and β-Isophorone (3,5,5-Trimethyl-3-Cyclohexen-1-One). Isophorone is a cyclic ketone, the structure of which is that of cyclohex-2-en-1-one substituted by methyl groups at positions 3, 5 and 5. It has a role as a solvent and a plant metabolite. It is a cyclic ketone and an enone. Excellent dissolving power for various organics, polymers, resins and chemical products. Has high solvent power for vinyl resins, cellulose esters, ether, and many substances soluble with difficulty in other solvents. slightly soluble in water; soluble in ether and acetone.

2.ISOPHORONE (IPHO) Application:

Isophorone is a clear liquid that smells like peppermint. It can be dissolved in water and evaporates somewhat faster than water. It is an industrial chemical used as a solvent in some printing inks, paints, lacquers, and adhesives. It is also used as an intermediate in the production of certain chemicals. IPHO, an unsaturated cyclic ketone, is a raw material in many chemical synthesis: IPDA/IPDI (isophorone diamine / isophorone diisocyanate), PCMX (antimicrobial derivatives of 3,5-xylenol), Trimethylcyclohexanone…
Isophorone can be used in the fields of–
As a high boiling solvent in paints and varnishes, PVDF resins, insecticide formulations and herbicide;
As levelling agent for polyacrylate, alkyde, epoxy and phenolic resins; Synthesis intermediate for of IPDA (isophorone diamine) / IPDI (isophorone diisocyanate), 3,5-Xylenol.
